Board meeting Previous Newsletter page Next Newsletter page Board meeting was called to order on Saturday August 8th, 1998 at 10am. The meeting was held at the Joliet Park District.
1. Rick Kelleher talked about getting a web page under the Region 5 web page. Rick has the authority to pursue an Illinois web site under the Region 5 web site. Motion by Wendy, Randy seconded, unanimous. - We also talked about the Illinois R & P allowing 2 per gym and people could buy extra’s if they needed. We also would like to do the newsletter on the web site and people who did not want the newsletter sent to them could send a signature saying that they could look at it on the web page. 2. If Al Singer’s computer tracking program proves itself by January and Dawn, Wendy and Rick feel that it will work for their needs we will purchase Al’s program. If additional states purchase the program we will get a reduced rate. Motion by Randy, Dave seconded, unanimous. 3. Level 4 Invite - Adjust Level 4 & 5 achievement awards for all around to Blue is a 35 or better; Red 32-34.95; White 30-31.95; Yellow 28-29.95. Motion by Teresa, Wendy seconded, unanimous. This is so that someone who receives 4 yellow event ribbons will also receive a yellow all around. - Level 4 Invite will get event ribbons and an all around rosette. - Level 4 bid will up for rebid. 4. Recommended for all achievement ribbons- Achievement ribbons should be handed out at the event and the athlete should stand on a designated spot away from the judges. It was also recommended that under a 7.0 gets a green ribbon. 5. Level 5 - Achievement and placement awards will be handed out at level 5 sectional and state. Motion by Wendy, Dawn seconded, unanimous. - Awards for level 5 will be handed out to 30% with a cap of 15th place for event and all around. Motion by Wendy, Suzie seconded, unanimous. - We will be going down to 6th place with medals at level 5 sectionals and 10th place medals at state for both events and all around in determined age groups for the sessions. Motion by Dave, Randy seconded, unanimous. - Level 5 qualifying scores for sectional and state are as follows: sectionals 30 all around and state a 33 all around. Motion by Teresa, Suzie seconded, unanimous. - Level 5 sectional bids were to accept the bid for Level 5 South Sectionals at Rivercity. Motion by Suzie, Randy seconded, passed (1 abstained). The NW sectionals will be awarded to MAGI Booster Club if they take off the $50 custodial fee off of their bid. Motion by Dave, Dawn seconded, passed (4 in favor, 1 not in favor and 1 abstained). The NE bid will be put up for rebid.
- Level 5 state bid was awarded to Dreams. Motion by Randy, Dawn seconded, unanimous. 6. Level 6 - Placement awards for State will be the same as Level 5. Motion by Dawn, Suzie seconded, unanimous. - Qualifying score for level 6 is to achieve a 33 twice at any sanctioned meet. Motion by Dave, Suzie seconded, unanimous. - We will reopen the bid for level 6 state. 7. Level 7/8 - Awards for State meets will be the same as level 5 and 6. Motion by Suzie, Randy seconded, unanimous. - The qualifying score for level 7 is a 34 and for level 8 it is a 33. Motion by Wendy, Dave seconded, unanimous. - Level 7/8 State bid will also be reopened. Motion by Suzie, Teresa seconded, unanimous. 8. Level 9/10 - Awards as per R & P. There will be 8 age groups. - The qualifying scores are as follows for state a 32 and for regionals a 34. - Level 9/10 state will be hosted by Gymnastics Etc. in conjunction with the ISU meet. Motion by Randy, Dave seconded, passed ( 1 abstained).
Meeting was adjourned at 2pm.
ALL STATE SERIES MEETS THAT ARE UP FOR REBID MUST BE DONE BY SEPTEMBER 15TH. PLEASE MAIL THEM TO NORBERT BENDIXEN. |
