Re: Region V All Star Team
Dear
All,
Please
consider this your official notification concerning the procedures for
qualifying to the 2001 Region V All Star Team
As
many of you already know, the All Star Team is comprised of the top 12
athletes from our Region. These honored individuals will have the
opportunity to participate in an international gymnastics event sponsored
by Region V. This signifies our gratitude for their dedication and
contributions to our wonderful sport. Last years event had our squad
traveling to El Salvador for an opportunity of a lifetime.
How
does your athlete qualify?
I)
Top 8 Junior Olympic Athletes/ National Elite
-
Must
have qualified for the 2001 Level 10 Nationals
-
Average
of your top 4 J.O. meet scores for the 2001 season
-
Qualified
National Elites may average their top 3 Scores.
-
Only
one score can be from a home sponsored event
-
Must
have attended a Region V training camp in 2000.
-
An
invitational score may only be used once (you may not use both a
prelim and finals score from the
same invitational)
-
Official
meet score sheets turned in to John Geddert by July 1,2001-No late
entries will be accepted.
-
Those
athletes who will be moving onto college will still be named to the
All-Star Squad BUT will not be
considered for the international assignment.
2)
Top 4 Elite International Athletes
-
Based
on the rankings from the Championships of the USA
-
2
Junior and 2 senior spots.
-
Those
national team members who will be representing the USA in
international competition should decline the Region V assignment a) so
as to better represent the USA and b) to spread the opportunities
around a bit
-
Spots
vacated will be filled in rank order with a junior replacing a junior
or senior replacing a senior.
-
If
spots remain open they will be filled by a rank order of Junior
Olympic Athletes starting with number 9.
I
hope this is clear,
Thanks
John
